A love story for a place, for its people

and for the freedom of outdoor living

The story of Barracuda begins in Itacaré, during the Bahian summer of 2004, with the meeting of São Paulo-born designer Juliana Ghiotto, local surfer Daniel Lima, and a group of Swedish friends, including hoteliers, artists, and entrepreneurs.

Inspired by this privileged stretch of the Atlantic coast, its lush nature, vibrant culture, and, above all, the relationships they had built there, the group came together around a shared dream. In the local community, they found the sense of purpose and values that would shape their vision of hospitality: one rooted in the territory, its people, and its way of life.

The project emerged as a counterpoint to conventional hospitality, built around community, sustainability, and a profound connection to its surroundings. Its name reflects this spirit: the barracuda, a local fish known for its character and strength, became the emblem of a new energy and a different idea of hospitality.

Under the blessings of Bahia, surrounded by Atlantic Forest and overlooking the sea, Barracuda’s local hosts reveal the essence of Itacaré to those who come to experience it.
